Commission E
A specialized committee established by the Federal Health Department of Germany to evaluate the safety and efficacy of medicinal herbs in Germany.
The monograph indicating the characteristics, dosage, usage, contraindications and such of each herb that was analysed and investigated by this committee is well backed and seen as the common consensus in the field of herbs.
The monograph was translated and published by the American Botanical Council (ABC) and is also being used as a standard by the Japan Medical Herbs Association.
American Botanical Council (ABC)
Founded in 1988, ABC is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating consumers, healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, industries, and the media on the safe and effective use of herbs and medicinal plants. In 2003, ABC published a complete monograph guidebook containing the main monograph, clinical overview, and patient information sheets for each herb, and is used by graduate schools around the world.
American Herbal Products Association (AHPA)
An association of more than 350 companies that promotes responsible and sustainable commerce of herbal products and enables consumers to stay informed of a wide variety of safe herbal products. The Medical Herbs Safety Handbook was edited by AHPA and was also translated into Japanese.
